D-E was excited to welcome Denise Hamilton, DEI Leader, Inclusion Specialist, and Author, for a recent parent ed. event. Ms. Hamilton engaged and inspired an attentive audience of parents/guardians and D-E faculty/staff, through both presenting as well as facilitating small breakout groups. Drawing from her best-selling, critically acclaimed book, Indivisible, and speaking meaningfully to her own personal history, Ms. Hamilton spoke to the power and impact of stories. Ms. Hamilton encouraged listeners to revisit these stories given how they can, often unintentionally, take away from community. As quoted from her book Indivisible: “If we want to repair the fraying stitches that bind us together, if we want to build a truly close-knit collective, we cannot settle for our present approach.
